Design process
We started off with this problem statement: How might we educate children on plant cultivation, especially using hydroponics, and to generate their interest in gardening
My goal was to design a product with our user's and stakeholder’s needs in mind, enabling young children to enjoy and learn about the process of gardening using hydroponics and produce a product that is in line with Panasonic’s business goals.

Preliminary rounds of ideation, prototypes, testing and iterations
We conducted rounds of affinity mapping, paper and cardboard prototyping, and user trials with children to understand their user needs and evaluate our preliminary concepts.

Following this, we evolved to a higher fidelity prototype involving a 3D printed plant pot concept, using an iPhone as a screen and then testing with children again to gather feedback.

MVP and Diary studies
With the new insights gathered from the previous rounds of testing, we developed our MVP Plant Buddy pot and the companion app.
I lead 8-day diary studies with 4 young children. The rationale is to test our product with young children over a prolonged period to test their experience using our product while taking care of a real plant.
I led the team in designing a diary study booklet, where each participant was instructed to note down their reflections on using the product daily. I also checked in on each children everyday to note down their feedback on using the product
